Comprehensive Coding in the Classroom
Could coding be considered the new form of literacy? At an unprecedented rate, coding has taken education by storm! Coding is no longer exclusively for programmers... it is for everyone. Digital literacy has become an integral component to any skillset. In order to be competitive in our technologically saturated, global economy everyone committed to knowledge acquisition must take advantage of the emerging opportunities for advancement through learning, play, and utilizing basic programming skills. However, how can educators integrate coding into their curriculum and pedagogy? In this workshop, you will be introduced to the basics of programming and learn coding fundamentals through gamification. Participants will be prompted to discover, investigate, and manipulate various Web 2.0 tools such as Weebly, Google Forms, Trello, YouTube, Kodable, and Tynker via Apple laptop computers. By the end of this workshop, participants will begin their transition from consumers to creators of technology!
